Do I have to be an eDegree student to take online classes?
No, any enrolled student at GTCC may take one or more online courses. It is highly recommended that all students complete the Online Success workshop prior to registering for these courses in order to adequately prepare for the successful completion of all online coursework. Questions regarding the Online Success workshop can be sent to email@example.com or students can contact the Online Student Navigator for more information.
eDegree programs are listed as limited enrollment in the college catalog. What does that mean?
Limited enrollment programs have additional steps for students to take before they are considered for admission. Students must apply within the time period prescribed annually by the Admissions Office.
I’ve completed the online questionnaire. Am I an eDegree student now?
No, all eDegree program applications will be reviewed and processed in 7 – 10 business days by the eDegree office. All applicants will be notified of receipt of the eDegree Questionnaire and provided directions regarding the entrance requirements to the program.
How do I sign-up for the eDegree program entrance requirement?
Upon notification of receipt of the eDegree Questionnaire, all applicants will be contacted regarding the dates and times of the current program readiness workshops. The Online Student Navigator will confirm all enrollments into the workshop and provide guidance regarding successfully completing the program.
How can I locate the contact information for my department chair?
Students can locate faculty and staff on the GTCC website here: Faculty and Staff Directory. A basic and advanced search tool is available. To locate a department chair use the advanced search tool and use the drop-down menu to locate the specific program. A listing of the faculty in the department will be provided along with the name of the Department Chair.
How do I register for classes, is student registration done by the college?
Tuition rates and fees are the same for programs taken at any GTCC campus or through an eDegree Program. Rates are updated by the college and can be found here: Tuition Rates & Fees.
When do eDegree classes start?
eDegree course schedules and registration periods follow the GTCC academic calendar. Students are admitted according to the admissions policies set forth by the college. Once a student has completed the PATH TO SUCCESS and the eDegree entrance requirement, students can register for courses according to the academic calendar registration schedule.
Can I take developmental classes online?
No, developmental classes are only offered on the GTCC Jamestown, Greensboro, High Point and Aviation campuses. Placement tests will determine enrollment in these courses.
Am I required to be online at a certain time?
All eDegree students should follow the course expectations provided by the instructor as outlined in the course syllabus. Students are required to participate in discussions, complete regular assignments, and take assessments at different times throughout the semester. This may require students to adjust schedules to meet instructor deadlines for course assignments.
Will I need to purchase textbooks or other materials?
All eDegree students should follow the course expectations for textbooks and materials provided by the instructor as outlined in the course syllabus. Students will be able to purchase all required materials from the Campus Bookstore.
Will I need to come to campus for tests?
There are some course completion requirements which involve live proctored exams. Any eDegree student can make arrangements to complete these requirements at any GTCC testing center or through an approved proctoring location other than GTCC. Students who are enrolled in courses that require a proctored exam may incur additional charges if they use a third party proctoring resource instead of GTCC Testing Center services.

The Testing Center has information about review materials to help student prepare for placement tests.
Which placement tests do I need and where can I take them?
The Testing Center has information regarding the appropriate placement tests needed for your program and how to take the tests you need to begin your academic program.
How can I contact my instructors?

Will an eDegree be as highly regarded as a traditional degree?
Guilford Technical Community College academic programs are regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Commission on Colleges (COC) to award associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates.
